Step 1

A proper fraction is a fraction in which the numerator is less or of a lower degree than the denominator.

An improper fraction is a fraction whose numerator is larger than, or higher degree than the denominator.

Given;

\begin{gathered} 1)(6)/(8) \\ 2)(10)/(9) \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} In\text{ }(6)/(8)\text{ the numerator is less than the denomitor} \\ Hence,\text{ }(6)/(8)\text{ is a proper fraction} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} In\text{ }(10)/(9)\text{ the numerator is bigger than the denominator} \\ Hence,\text{ }(10)/(9)\text{ is an improper fraction} \end{gathered}

Step 2

Convert

\begin{gathered} 1)2(3)/(4) \\ 2)4(5)/(7) \\ To\text{ improper fraction} \end{gathered}
2(3)/(4)=(4(2)+3)/(4)=(11)/(4)
4(5)/(7)=(7(4)+5)/(7)=(33)/(7)

Step 3

Convert

\begin{gathered} 1)(12)/(8) \\ 2)(19)/(6) \\ To\text{ mixed numbers} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} 1)(12)/(8)=1(4)/(8)\text{ or }1(1)/(2) \\ 2)(19)/(6)=3(1)/(6) \end{gathered}
