Translation of linear functions

We know the line equation is given by

y = mx + b, where m and b are numbers: m represents the slope (inclination) of the line) and b the intercept with y-axis

The graph of y = 7x + 6 intercepts y-axis at b = 6.

If it is translated 4 units down then it should intercepts y- axis at b' = 6 - 4 = 2

Then the new equation is: y = 7x + 2
