Given the initial expression

5-9-5p

Notice that p^0=1; thus,

5-9-5p=5p^0-9p^0-5p

Combining terms that are multiplied by p^0,

\begin{gathered} \Rightarrow5-9-5p=(5-9)p^0-5p \\ =(-4)p^0-5p \\ =-4-5p \end{gathered}

The answer is -4-5p
