Points P, Q and R are collinear. Point Q isbetween points P and R. If point Q is the midpointof PR with PQ = 9x – 2 and RQ = 4x + 13. Findthe length of PR.

We have the following:

\begin{gathered} PR=PQ+RQ \\ PQ=RQ \\ PQ=9x-2 \\ RQ=4x+13 \end{gathered}

replacing:

\begin{gathered} 9x-2=4x+13 \\ 9x-2=4x+13 \\ 9x-4x=13+2 \\ 5x=15 \\ x=(15)/(5)=3 \end{gathered}

now,

\begin{gathered} PR=9\cdot3-2+4\cdot3+13 \\ PR=27-2+12+13 \\ PR=50 \end{gathered}
