we know that

The recipe calls for 2 3/4 cups of flour

Robert added 1 1/4 cups of flour

so

To find out how much more flour needs

subctract

2 3/4 - 1 1/4

but first

convert mixed numbers to an improper fractions

2 3/4=2+3/4=11/4

1 1/4=1+1/4=5/4

substitute

11/4-5/4=6/4

simplify

6/4=3/2=1.5 cups

convert to mixed number

1.5=1+0.5=1+1/2=1 1/2 cups

therefore

the answer is 1 1/2 cups of flour
