The number of wheels were on the Block if there were 6 bicycles and 15 cars is 72 wheels.

The number of wheels were on the Block if there were x bicycles and y cars is (2x + 4y) wheels.

How many wheels were on the Block if there were 6 bicycles and 15 cars?

Bicycles = 2 wheels

Cars = 4 wheels

Total wheels on 6 bicycles and 15 cars = 2(6) + 4(15)

= 12 + 60

= 72 wheels

Therefore,

if there were x bicycles and y cars = 2(x) + 4(y)

= 2x + 4y

Number of wheels in 1 car = 4

Number of wheels in 1 bicycle = 2

If there are 6 bicycles and 15 cars, then the total number of wheels

= 6(2) + 4(15)

= 12 + 60

= 72 wheels

If there are x bicycles and y cars

The total wheels = 6x + 15y
