Entertainers sometimes perform a very dangerous feat of lying on a bed of nails. There is no trick

involved in this performance. Instead, the nails are placed very close together, and the individual

lies down on them as flat as possible, explain how this is possible. include a description of what would happen if the same performer tried to lie down on a board that contained only one single nail in the center.

Step-by-step explanation

We know when a force acts over a large area the pressure acting is less. So when a person lays in a bed of nail, the force is distributed over larger area and each pin provides a very egligible pressure on the person and does not pierce the body.

While if the same person lie on one nail then the area decreases and the pressure increases. So the nail would give a huge amount of pressure and thus would pierce through the person's body.
