6 m ladder is leaning against a wall. The base of the ladder is 1.5 m from the wall. Calculate how high up the wall the ladder reaches

Explanation:

using formula c^2 = a^2 + b^2

whereas c is length of the ladder

b is the distance from the wall

so a will be the height of the wall the ladder reaches

so 6^2 = a^2 + 1.5^2

36 = a^2 + 2.25

a^2 = 36 - 2.25 = 33.75

x = 5.8 m
