Two clear solutions are placed in separate beakers. One has a pH of 4 and the other is unknown. If equal volumes are mixed and the resulting pH is 6, is the unknown solution most likely a strong acid, weak acid, strong base, or weak base? Provide a brief reasoning.

answer and explanation

if two equal volumes of the solutions are mixed then the second solution must have had a pH greater than 6 and so must have been a weak base because it doesnot completley neutralize the acid
