Answer: x = 2 , and y = -5 : (2, -5)

We are given two linear system of equations

y = x - 7 ------------------ equation 1

y = -4x + 3 ---------------- equation 2

Using substitution method

Since, y = x - 7

Substitute the value of y into equation 2

x - 7 = -4x + 3

Collect the like terms

x + 4x = 3 + 7

5x = 10

Divide both sides by 5

5x/5 = 10/5

x = 2

To find y, put the value of x into equation 2

Since equation 2 is y = -4x + 3

y = -4x + 3

y = -4(2) + 3

y = -8 + 3

y = -5

The answer is x = 2, and y =- 5
