y=-5x+4

To find the value of x when y=16. Substitute in the equatio the y for 16:

16=-5x+4

Solve x:

-Subsrtact 4 in both sides of the equation

\begin{gathered} 16-4=-5x+4-4 \\ 12=-5x \end{gathered}

-Divide both sides of the equation into -5:

\begin{gathered} (12)/(-5)=(-5)/(-5)x \\ \\ -(12)/(5)=x \end{gathered}Then, when y is 16, x is -12/5 or -2.4
