SOLUTION

Given the question, the following are the solution steps to answer the question.

STEP 1: Write the given linear equations

\begin{gathered} 2x+y=14------equation\text{ 1} \\ 6x+3y=42------equation\text{ 2} \end{gathered}

STEP 2: Make y the subject of equation 1

\begin{gathered} 2x+y=14 \\ Subtract\text{ 2x from both sides} \\ 2x+y-2x=14-2x \\ y=14-2x-----equation\text{ 3} \end{gathered}

STEP 3: Substitute equation 3 into equation 2

\begin{gathered} 6x+3y=42 \\ By\text{ substitution,} \\ 6x+3(14-2x)=42 \\ 6x+42-6x=42 \\ 0+42=42 \\ 42=42 \end{gathered}

Since the solution is in the form above, hence there are infinitely many solutions.
