Given that the whosale price of the uniform is 42.50, and a mark up of 12% is applied by the seller,

The mark up is the amount the seller adds to the original cost price.

Retail price = Wholesale price + Mark up

Thus,

\begin{gathered} \text{Mark up = 12\% of wholesale price} \\ \Rightarrow(12)/(100)*42.50 \\ \text{Mark up = 5.1} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} \text{Retail price = 42.50 + 5.1} \\ \Rightarrow47.6 \end{gathered}

Hence, the retail price is 47.6
