The equation of a line in Slope-Intercept form is:


y=mx+b

Where "m" is the slope and "b" is the y-intercept.

Given this equation:


y=4x+2

You can see that:


\begin{gathered} m=4 \\ b=2 \end{gathered}

Since "x" is zero when the line cuts the y-axis, you have this point:


(0,2)

The value of "y" is zero when the line cuts the x-axis, so you must substitute that value into the equation and solve for "x" in order to find the x-intercept:


\begin{gathered} 0=4x+2 \\ -2=4x \\ (-2)/(4)=x \\ x=-(1)/(2) \\ x=-0.5 \end{gathered}

So you also have this point:


(-0.5,0)
