From the diagram above, angle b = 34 degrees (angles in the same segments)

Angle c = 18 degrees (angles in the same segments)

Angle y = (b + c) = 18 + 34 = 52 degrees (external angle of a triangle = sum of internal opposite angles)

Angle z above and 34 makes a straight line. Sum of angles on a straight line = 180 degrees

So, z + 34 = 180

z = 180 - 34

z = 146 degrees

Angles z, x, and c, all make up a triangle.

Sum of angles in a triangle = 180 degrees

Therefore, z + x + c = 180

146 + x + 18 = 180

x + 164 = 180

x = 180 - 164 = 16 degrees

Therefore, y = 52 degrees and x = 16 degrees
