let 'c' be the number of gallons of chocolate ice cream that was sold.

Since the ice cream parlor sold 5/6 more of chocolate than vanilla and strawberry combined, we have:

c=(5)/(6)+(7)/(12)+(1)/(4)=(10+7+3)/(12)=(20)/(12)=(5)/(4)=1(1)/(4)

thus, the ice cream parlor sold 1 1/4 gallons of chocolate ice cream
