why ? because the height to the baseline splits the baseline into 2 halves, and the triangle into 2 right-angled triangles with 6 and 4/2 = 2 as legs and x as Hypotenuse.

so, we use Pythagoras

c² = a² + b²

with c being the Hypotenuse, a and b are the legs.

x² = 6² + 2² = 36 + 4 = 40

x = sqrt(40)
