A sphere has a volume of 4500 cm³. Find its surface area to the nearest whole number

Solution

For this case the volume is given by:

V= 4500 cm^3

We can find the radius like this:


V=(4)/(3)\pi r^3
r=\sqrt[3]{(3\cdot V)/(4\pi)}=\sqrt[3]{(3\cdot4500)/(4\pi)}=10.242

then we can find the surface are with this formula:


SA=4\pi(10.242^2)=1318.13\operatorname{cm}^2

Rounded to the nearest whole number we got:

1318 cm^2
