Negative consequences of eating meat that nature is facing are: high deforestation rate, which means loss of biodiversity and impairng of land biogeochemical cycles; increased CO2 releasing, since trees harvesting (in their tissues) and sequestering CO2 (for photosynthesis) are no longer here, this CO2 is released back to the atmosphere; high cow densities mean high methane release rate. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas which makes climate change more severe. The above are one of the most direct consequences that land change for meat production purposes has brought to date.
