In Kilometers

Given the fact that a common race is 5 km, it is more appropriate to report the distance in kilometers rather than in mm (millimeters) if you're using the metric system.

Since, 1 kilometers is approximately 1.6 mile in Customary units

And a 1 km is equal to 1,000,000 mm.

In addition in the countries where the metric system is solely used, the km is a standard unit for races.
