To find the x component of the given vector we can use the following equation:

x=h\cdot cos\theta

Where x is the x component, h is the magnitude of the vector and θ is the angle or direction.

Replace for the known values to find x:

\begin{gathered} x=17.5lb\cdot cos(57.1) \\ x=14.91lb \end{gathered}

The x component is 14.91 lb.

To find the y component we have to follow a similar procedure, but this time, using the following equation:

\begin{gathered} y=h\cdot sin\theta \\ y=17.5lb\cdot sin(57.1) \\ y=9.17lb \end{gathered}

The y component is 9.17 lb.
