The cell membrane or plasma membrane i'ts made of a lipid bilayer of phospholipids, which controls what enters the cell.

Given its composition, it allows the pass of uncharged molecules but it's impermeable to ions and polar molecules.

This means d, polar water-soluble molecules, would not be able to diffuse across the plasma membrane
