The graph of f(x) and g(x) are shown below If f(x) = (x + 7)?, which of the following is g(x), based on the translation?O g(x) = (x + 9)2O g(x) = (x + 5)2O g(x) = (x + 7)2 + 2O g(x) = (x + 7)2 - 2

From the problem, we have a function of x :

f(x)=(x+7)^2

From the graph, g(x) is the result when f(x) is shifted 2 units downward, and note that when shifting a function f(x) c units downward, the function will be :

f(x)\rightarrow f(x)-c

Since f(x) will be shifted 2 units downward, the function will be :

\begin{gathered} g(x)=f(x)-2 \\ g(x)=(x+7)^2-2 \end{gathered}

The answer is D. g(x) = (x + 7)^2 - 2
