Two lines are perpendicular when their slopes are opposite.

You have the equation;

y=(1)/(2)x+6

You can identify the slope as the number next to the x (y=mx+b, m is the slope)

the slope in the given equation is 1/2

The slope of the perpendicular line will be the opposite
