The floor is composed by 2 rectangles.

Area of a rectangle : Lenght x width

Area 1 = 10 x 4 = 40 ft2

Area 2 = 9 x 7 = 63 ft2

Add both to obtain the total area = 40+63 = 103 ft2

He should buy 103 ft2
