1) Let's solve this equation, and then check it. Let's find the LCM of 6, 3 which is 6

\begin{gathered} (1)/(6)+(2)/(3)=(1)/(4)(d-2) \\ (1)/(6)+(4)/(6)\text{ =}(d-2)/(4) \\ (5)/(6)=(d-2)/(4) \\ \text{Cross Multiply this:} \\ 6(d-2)\text{ =20} \\ \text{DIvide both sides by 6} \\ d-2\text{ =}(10)/(3) \\ 3(d-2)\text{ =10} \\ 3d\text{ -6=10} \\ 3d=16 \\ d=(16)/(3) \end{gathered}

2) Checking it, we'll have:

\begin{gathered} (5)/(6)=\frac{(d-2)_{}}{4} \\ (5)/(6)=((16)/(3)-2)/(4) \\ (5)/(6)=\frac{5}{6\text{ }} \end{gathered}
