To solve the system of equations:

\begin{gathered} 4x+7y=3 \\ 4x-y=-5 \end{gathered}

we substract the second equation from the first one, then we have:

\begin{gathered} 8y=8 \\ y=1 \end{gathered}

Once we have the value of y we plug it in the first equation and solve for x:

\begin{gathered} 4x+7=3 \\ 4x=-4 \\ x=-1 \end{gathered}

Therefore, x=-1 and y=1
