I need help with a word problem for Algebra 1. it's, Josiah purchased Books for $2.50 each and also spent $25 on on a game. Jessi purchased the same number of books for $3.00 each. If Jessi spent more money than Josiah, how many books could they have bought?

Let:

y1 = Money spent by Josiah

y2 = Money spent by Jessie

x = Number of books

y1 is given by:

y1=2.5x+25

y2 is given by:

y2=3x

Since Jessi spent more money than Jossiah, then:

\begin{gathered} y2>y1 \\ so\colon \\ 3x>2.5x+25 \end{gathered}

Solve for x:

\begin{gathered} 3x-2.5x>25 \\ 0.5x>25 \\ x>(25)/(0.5) \\ x>50 \end{gathered}
