We are asked to find the slope of the line that passes through the following points.

\mleft(8,-7\mright)\text{ and }(5,3)

The slope of the line is given by

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Let us substitute the given values into the slope formula

m=(3-(-7))/(5-8)=(3+7)/(-3)=-(10)/(3)

Therefore, the slope of the line is -10/3

We can also plot this slope in a graph as

We start at the given point (5, 3)

Then we move 10 units down (shown in black)

Then we move 3 units right (shown in red)

Please note that the slope was negative that is why we are moving down.

If the slope was positive then we would have moved upward.
