For a)

When the flour in the machine reaches 0 grams, we can know the time because it is represented by the x-intercept, in this case, is 5 minutes.

The point in red

For b)

As we can see we have a line with a negative, so we need to calculate the slope in order to know the rate.

We can use the next formula

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

we can use the next points

(0,700)=(x1,y1)

(5,0)=(x2,y2)

m=(0-700)/(5-0)=(-700)/(5)=-140

therefore the solution is

As time increases, the amount of flour in the machine decreases.

At what rate is the amount of flour decreasing?

140 grams per minute
