PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ONE QUESTION

One 10 Ohm resistor, R1, is connected to a 12 V battery. A second 10 Ohm resistor, R2, is added in series. What is the potential difference across each resistor?

A) R1 = 12 V and R2 = 0V

B) R1 = 6 V and R2 = 6V

C) R1 = 10 V and R2 = 2 V

D) R1 = 0 V and R2 = 12 V

First, calculate the total resistance (Rt)

R1 = 15 ohm

R2= 30 ohm

R t = R1 +R2 = 15 ohm + 30 ohm = 45 ohm

-Vr1

Apply Ohm's Law

V = I * R

Frist, find I

I t = I r1 = I r2

Vt = 90v

I t= Vt / Rt =90 / 45 = 2 amp

Finally,

V1 = I1 * R1 = 2 * 15 = 30 v
