We can write the following equation:

y=kx

where y is the number of pages Robert writes, x is the number of hours and k represents the rate.

Since Robert can write 1/3 page in 1/4 hour, we have:

\begin{gathered} y=(1)/(3) \\ x=(1)/(4) \end{gathered}

substituting these values on the equation we get

(1)/(4)k=(1)/(3)

to solve for k, we can multiply both sides of the equation by 4 to get the following:

\begin{gathered} 4\cdot((1)/(4)k=(1)/(3)) \\ \Rightarrow(4)/(4)k=(4)/(3)=1(1)/(3) \\ \Rightarrow k=1(1)/(3) \end{gathered}

therefore, Robert writes 1 1/3 pages per hour
