To graph an inequality follow these steps:

1. plot the "y=" equation

2.make it solid for y ≤ and y ≥, and dashed for y< or y>

3.shade above the line for a greater than and below for a less than.

1. In this case, we have the equation of a parabola, in the form:


y=ax^2+bx+c

Where a equals 1, b equals 0 and c equals 3:


y=x^2+3

when a is a positive number the parabola opens upward, which is our case since a equals 1.

If we replace x for 0, -1 and 1, we get these values of y:

y(0)=0^2+3=3

y(-1)=(-1)^2+3=1+3=4

y(1)=(1)^2+3=1+3=4

Now we know that our parabola goes through the points (0,3), (-1,4), and (1,4).

2. In this case, we have a ≥, then we have to draw the parabola with a solid line

3. In this case we have a "greater or equal to sign", then we have to shade above the parabola.

Then, when we graph this inequality we get:
