Problem

write an equation given these points (-6,0),(0,6), and (-1,0)

Solution

For this case we can create an equation like this one:

y= ax^2 +bx+ c

And using the point (-1,0) we got:

0= a-b+c

a= b-c

For (-6,0) we got:

0= 36a -6b +c

36a = 6b-c

36(b-c) = 6b -c

36b -36c = 6b- c

30b = 35c

b= 7/6 c

And for (0,6) we have:

6 =c

Then b= 7/6*6= 7

And finally :

a= 7-6 =1

Final answer:

y= x^2 +7x+ 6
