Given equation is,


y=(1)/(2x-10)-3

To graph the above equation.

y intercept: when x=0, we get y=-31/10

y intercept is y=-31/10

x intercept: when y=0 we get x=31/6

x intercept is x=31/6

Comparing the graph equation with y=1/x.

we can rewrite the equation as,


y=(1)/(2(x-5))-3

Since 2 in the denominator shirnk the graph y=1/x by 2, horizontal shift about 5 units (approximately) and vertical shift about -3 units.

Hence we get the graph as,
