To solve this question, use the law of cosines:

c^2=a^2+b^2-2*a*b*cosC

In this question:

c = x

C = 73°

a = 47

b = 45

Substituting the values, we have:

x^2=47^2+45^2-2*47*45*cos(73)

And solving the equation:

\begin{gathered} x^2=2209+2025-4230*cos(73) \\ x^2=2209+2025-1236.7 \\ x^2=2997.3 \\ \end{gathered}

Taking the square root of both sides:

\begin{gathered} √(x^2)=√(2997.3) \\ x=54.7 \end{gathered}

Answer: x = 54.7 units.
