Both perimeters are the same, so:

2(x + 6) + 2(x + 2) = 2(x + 4) + 2(2x - 2)

2x + 12 + 2x + 4 = 2x + 8 + 4x - 4

12 + 2x + 4 = 8 + 4x - 4

16 + 2x = 4x - 4

2x - 4x = 4 - 16

-2x = - 12

x = 6
