But when Lauriann and Kinsey see a 16 inch pizza. do you think it ought to serve even more than 8people. Suddenly, Kinsey realizes the flaw in their reasoning that a 16 inch pizza should serve eight. Kinsey has an idea for determining how many people a 16 inch pizza would serve. What mathematical reasoning might Kinsey you thinking of and how many people should a 16 inch diameter pizza served if a 12 inch pizza serves 6. (see figure 12.84.) Explain your answers.

How many should a 16 inches D pizza do?

2) Let's set a proportion, to check how many people would be served by that 8 inches radius pizza (16 inches D)

12 inch diameter = 6 inch radius

Pizza surface = 36π in²

16 inch diameter = 64π in²

6 * 64π = 36πx

x= 384/36

x = 10.66
