given the set of data:

379, 357, 594, 775, 636, 794, 518,320

firstly we must arrange the data in ascending order

so,

320, 357, 379, 518, 594, 636, 775, 794

(a) the median

since the trials is 8 which is an even number, we add the two middle number and divide it by 2

so we count three from the right and three from the left

Median = 518 + 594/2

= 1112/2

Median = 556

recall, the question says if the answer is not integer, we should round it to one decimal place.

so we covert the answer to seconds by dividing by 1000

= 556/1000

= 0.556

Therefore, Median = 0.6 (to 1 decimal place)

(b) The mean

The mean is the average of the set of data

to get that, you add up all your trial and divide by the total numbers

Mean = 320 + 357 + 379 + 518 + 594 + 636 + 775 + 794/8

= 4373/8

= 546.625

Therefore, the mean = 546.6 (to 1 decimal place)

(c) The Mode

mode is the number with the highest frequency, that is the number that appears more often

from the set of data given, we can see that there are no numbers that appear more than once or repeat itself.

Therefore the mode is 0

The mode = 0
