The given equation is

c=2.4p

For 1 pound, we solve when p = 1.

c=2.4\cdot1=2.4

(a) The cost of 1 pound is $2.40.

For p = 6.5, we have.

c=2.4\cdot6.5=15.6

(b) The cost of 6.5 pounds is $15.60.

If a customer spent $8.40, then

\begin{gathered} 8.40=2.4p \\ p=(8.40)/(2.40) \\ p=3.50 \end{gathered}

(c) The customer purchased 3.50 pounds.
