Last year 80 kids signed up for a summer trip to Washington DC this year 65 kids have signed up what is the precent difference in the number of students going on the trip?

Recall that the percent difference is given by the following formula:


P=\frac{|I_0-I|_{}}{(I+I_0)/(2)}*100,

where I is the final value, and I₀ is the initial value.

In this case, I₀=80, and I=65, therefore:


P=(80-65)/((80+65)/(2))*100.

Simplifying the above calculations we get:


P=(15)/((145)/(2))*100=(30)/(145)*100=(6)/(29)*100=(600)/(29)\text{.}

Answer: 600/29%.
