x-intercept is the value of x when y is 0.

From the problem, we have an equation of :

5x+2y=40

Set y = 0, then solve x :

\begin{gathered} 5x+2(0)=40 \\ 5x=40 \\ x=(40)/(5)=8 \end{gathered}

The x intercept is 8 or written as a point (8, 0)
