Answer:

y= 8
√(3) x=12

Explanation:

In this question we will be doing trigonometry (SOH=sine CAH= cosine TOA=tangent) (SIN=sine COS= cosine TAN=tangent)

Find value of y

1. First, we label the triangle the side opposite the 90degrees is called hypotenuse(h) the side opposite 60 degrees is called opposite (o) the remaining side is called the adjacent (a) (4
√(3) )

2. From this we can see to find the value of y we need the hypotenuse (h) which is labeled as y and the adjacent (a) which is labelled as 4
√(3)

3. Therefore we use cosine equation. We subsite the values in and rearrange to get y on it is own and then find the value of y.

cos(angle)=
(adjacent)/(hypotenuse)

cos(60)=
(4√(3) )/(y)

y=
(4√(3) )/(cos(60))

y= 8
√(3)

Find value of x

1. First, we label the triangle the side opposite the 90degrees is called hypotenuse(h) the side opposite 60 degrees is called opposite (o) the remaining side is called the adjacent (a) (4
√(3) )

2. From this we can see to find the value of x we need the opposite (o) which is labeled as x and the adjacent (a) which is labelled as 4
√(3)

3. Therefore we use the tangent equation. We substitute the values in and rearrange to get x on its own and then find the value of x

tan(angle)=
(opposite)/(adjacent)

tan (60)=
(x)/(4√(3) )

4
√(3) x tan(60)= x

x= 12
