Respiring is not the same as breathing. It’s the chemical reaction that takes place in our cells.
2 reasons:
- respiration produces energy that is essential for bodily functions
- respiration gets rid of carbon dioxide in the body, which is toxic

Answer:

respire means breathe. If we don't breathe at night, oxygen can't go to our brains or any parts of our body for it to function properly and we will eventually die if we don't breathe.
