1 The foot of a ladder is placed 7 meters from a wall. If the top of the ladder rests 9 meters up on the wall, how long is the ladder?

To solve this problem we will use the Pythagorean theorem

x^2 = 9^2 + 7^2

x^2 = 81 + 49

x^2 = 130

x = 11.4 m

Result. The ladder is 11.4 m long
