Quadrilateral DEFG is translated 4 units to the right and 5 units down. Which rule describes the translation that was applied to quadrilateral DEFG to create quadrilateral D'E'F'G'? A.(x, y) -> (x - 4, y + 5)B.(x, y) -> (4x, -5y)C.(x, y) -> (x + 4, y - 5)D.(x, y) -> (-4x, 5y)

A translation is defined as:

(x,y)\rightarrow(x+a,y+b)

where a represents the translation in the horizontal direction and b the translation in the vertical direction.

Since the translation given tranlates the points 4 units to the right, this means that a=4; and the translation tranlates 5 units down that means that b=-5. Hence the translation is:

(x,y)\rightarrow(x+4,y-5)

Therefore the answer is C.
