Given

(5)/(9)-(1)/(6)

We find the least common multiple of 6 and 9:

\begin{gathered} \text{For 6:} \\ 6*1=6 \\ 6*2=12 \\ 6*3=18 \\ \text{For 9: } \\ 9*1=9 \\ 9*2=18 \end{gathered}

The common number is 18, therefore we rewrite the fractions according to the common number:

(5*2)/(9*2)-(1*3)/(6*3)=(10)/(18)-(3)/(18)

Apply properties of fractions:

\begin{gathered} (10-3)/(18) \\ \text{subctract 10-3} \\ (7)/(18) \end{gathered}

Answer: 7/18
