We are given a graph that shows the relationship between the amount of water (in liters) in the tank and time (in minutes).
Part (a)
What is the amount of water in the tank at 0 minutes?
We can see from the graph that at time 0 minutes, the amount of water in the tank is 50 liters.
Part (b)
How the amount of water and time are related?
At 0 minutes, the amount of water is 50 liters
At 1 minute, the amount of water is 320 liters
Therefore, we can clearly see that as time increases, the amount of water in the tank increases.
At what rate the amount of water is increasing?
To find the rate (slope) choose any two points from the graph and use the slope formula
For example, let us choose the first two points
(0, 50) and (1, 320)
Therefore, the rate is 270 liters per minute.
Please note that you can select any two points from the graph and you will always get the same rate (try it)
