Your little brother has a toy car he rides. It is modeled on a real car scale of 1.4. You decide to make your model to a scale of 1;16. You measure your brother's toy car and use it to find the dimensions of the car it was modeled after.

The real car that the toy car is modelled after would have dimensions of
\( 6.4 \, m \) in length and
\( 25.6 \, m \) in width.

- Your model car, on a scale of 1:16, would have dimensions of
\( 0.4 \, m \) in length and
\( 1.6 \, m \) in width.

To find the dimensions of the real car that the toy car is modeled after, and then to determine the dimensions of your model car, you can follow these steps:

1. Find the dimensions of the real car using the scale of the toy car (1:4).

- Real car length:
\( 1.6 \, m * 4 = 6.4 \, m \)

- Real car width:
\( 6.4 \, m * 4 = 25.6 \, m \)

2. Find the dimensions of your model car using the scale 1:16 based on the real car's dimensions.

- Model car length:
\( 6.4 \, m / 16 = 0.4 \, m \)

- Model car width:
\( 25.6 \, m / 16 = 1.6 \, m \)

Therefore:

- The real car that the toy car is modelled after would have dimensions of
\( 6.4 \, m \) in length and
\( 25.6 \, m \) in width.

- Your model car, on a scale of 1:16, would have dimensions of
\( 0.4 \, m \) in length and
\( 1.6 \, m \) in width.

If you have to model to a scale of 1:16, then, you have to divide the dimensions of the real car by 16.

If the length is 6.4 m, after dividing by 16 we have: 0.4 m

If the height is 1.6 m, after dividing by 16 we have: 0.1 m

The answer is:

The length of your model car must be: 0.4 m

The height of your model car must be: 0.1 m
