According to the website www.getty.edu, on the average each block at the Getty Center is 76 × 76 centimeters and weighs 115 kilograms, with a typical thickness of 8 centimeters. Find the volume of an average block of travertine.

To compute the average volume we multiply the dimensions of an average block:


\begin{gathered} V=76\operatorname{cm}*76cm*8\operatorname{cm} \\ =46208\operatorname{cm}^3\text{.} \end{gathered}

Answer: The volume of the average block is 46208 cubic centimeters.
